The project scope for Komorebi focuses specifically on the lighting design for the restaurant's bar area. This targeted approach aims to create a lighting scheme that is both functional for visibility and decorative to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the space.
In realizing the vision for Komorebi's bar area, the lighting design was meticulously executed to meet the dual demands of functionality and atmospheric enhancement. Custom fixtures were selected not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their ability to cast a warm, inviting light in the 2000K-2400K color temperature range. This specific range was chosen for its ability to mimic the golden hue of sunset, which is scientifically proven to induce relaxation and comfort, much like the gentle buzz of being slightly intoxicated.
The resolution of this design was a careful orchestration of technical specifications and creative insights, resulting in a lighting scheme that elevates the customer experience to new heights through a masterful blend of science and art.
These fixtures were then strategically placed in conjunction with architectural elements to create a layered lighting effect that complements the natural lines and materials of the bar's design. By manipulating both the intensity and distribution of light, the design fosters a mood that encourages patrons to linger, enhancing their overall experience. The interplay of light and shadow, along with the thoughtful use of color temperature, transforms the space into a sanctuary of sociability and leisure, aligning perfectly with the psychological impact intended for Komorebi's guests.

The design process for Komorebi’s bar area was deeply rooted in the essence of Japanese spatial concepts and the dramatic allure of 1930s Orientalism. By embodying the serene play of light characteristic of 'komorebi' in Japanese landscapes, the design sought to infuse the space with a sense of natural tranquility. Simultaneously, it embraced the opulent and intricate designs of Orientalist decor from the 1930s, bringing in a touch of vintage glamour. The interweaving of these influences guided the selection of custom fixtures and the strategic use of warm color temperatures, creating an ambiance that is both historically rich and inviting.
